MicroVue YKL-40 Website* - Web Design & Development

The YKL-40 website was a site that was in a big need to reach the 21st century in design and development. The current site was designed over 10 years ago and was a one page JPG image noting some particulars about the product. In late 2008 the Product Marketing Manager along with the Director of Marketing requested a meeting to discuss a new site design. We held our initial needs and requirements meeting a week later and I was given the new trademark to work off of. The new box design was still being worked on and the photos and layout were still being tossed around the Regulatory department.

As the finals preparations were being made on the package design I worked on three different home page designs for the website. Two weeks after our initial meeting, I scheduled a concept meeting with the PMM, Dir. Of Mktg. , Regulatory and VP of New Products. We met and I went over each design and explained why the colors were used, the layout was placed how it was, and what elements of each design were interactive and how they worked. When I got to the third and final template and finished my overview, they all agreed on the final piece and had no suggestions for changes.

I started on the development and had the base code and templates styled and valid a few weeks later and was awaiting the content to be inserted. There were a few problems between the PMM and Regulatory on wording of documents, so the site got held up considerably. Eventually in June I got my content and went full throttle entering it in and building the databases for the elements that required it.

Within the Quidel Corporation, any change to the websites or new sites or put through a series of checks with multiple departments. I submitted my "Red Folder" in mid June for checking and it got returned a few times because Regulatory was still worried about some of the wording of content. (Because it was a FDA audited company, everything has to be spot on.) Unfortunately, I left the company in early July to start my traveling and was not able to see the site to its final launch. There is a subdomain created where the site can be viewed but all the content has been changed due to security and NDA's.
