J.U.I.C.E. Cut & Paste Web Design Challenge - Template Design
I've been following the Cut & Paste web design challenges for a few years and have always thought that the competitions they put out are inventive and entertaining. The first time I saw a video of the yearly tournament, I was in awe that they were all designing LIVE on Wacom tablets with big screens projecting their work as they go. I thought that was the coolest thing.
At the time, I wasn't ready to put myself up on the board with those talented designers, but as the years passed, I became more and more confident in my ability to design. So in 2009 I entered into the J.U.I.C.E. Cut & Paste web design challenge.
The objective was to redesign the Rampart Juice website using modern day design styles and incorporating their logo and business model into our work. The company helps inner-city youths stay off the streets by offering after school activities where they can practice/learn MC'ing (DJ), breakdancing, painting, and other various activities. Because of the upbeat tempo of their chore motto, I wanted to design something fresh, loud, unique and attention grabbing.
I spent around 6 hours total working on the project and creating this website template. I used green because I felt it made the white used for the text background really stand out and help emphasize their goals and objectives of the program. There are a few elements that are meant for JS development and would react to users mouse movement over particular areas.
As for the results of this competition, I am sorry to say that no one really knows. The Rampart JUICE still has the same website and no winner has been officially announced on their website.
